Macbeth

For the majority of the Michaelmas Term, we have been working on Shakespeare’s Macbeth. We looked at things such as Lady Macbeths’ Speech to Binary Oppositions and an introduction to Witchcraft.

The first thing we looked at was a sample of Dickens Binary Oppositions. This was to help us get an understanding of some of the language that Shakespeare liked to use.
Next, we looked at Macbeth Act 1, Scene 1. This gave us a great idea of the beginning of the great play.
Then we moved on to Macbeth Act 1, Scene 2, which is in the same document as before. We analysed the scenes to help us with the language we did not understand and to get a feel for the mood of the play.
After that, for Macbeth Act 1, Scene 3 we read a translation of which gave us the modern text and we made notes on what happened with in the scene, this helped us to get a proper understanding of what was happening because the language was easier to relate to.
Finally, we looked at Lady Macbeths’ speech and all of the imagery that Shakespeare uses in his writing within Macbeth. We analysed Lady Macbeths’ main speech in the play and wrote our own analysis of the Imagery in Macbeth. I worked with Lizzie Borg to analyse both of Lady Macbeths’ Speeches.
